Patch Notes: Week of September 22, 2026

Everything that landed in the app this week.

TFDi MD-11 persistence beta

  • A new beta of the Tailstrike plugin adds full 1:1 persistence for the TFDi MD-11, a first for any aircraft on Tailstrike. The whole aircraft carries from one pilot to the next, not just fuel and position.
  • It goes live for everyone in October, with a larger announcement.
  • To join the beta this week: if you own the TFDi MD-11 on MSFS 2020 or 2024, message cautionwake directly on the Tailstrike Discord. Testers on both simulators are needed. The testbed aircraft is HB-IWE, pictured above.

This week on Tailstrike

  • A new weekly digest recaps what pilots actually did: connected legs, aircraft passed between pilots, first flights, unusual routes. Pilots are credited by name.
  • Read it at app.tailstrike.net/digest, with a permalink for every week and an archive of past editions.
  • The dashboard points to the newest edition for a few days after it goes out.
  • Pilots who opted out of being featured in missions stay out of the digest stories too. Their flights still count in the totals.

Desktop plugin

  • Connect the plugin without copying a token. The plugin's new Connect button opens the app, which hands your token straight to the plugin on your machine.
  • If your browser blocks the local hand-off, an "Open in the Tailstrike plugin" button does it instead. Pasting the token by hand still works.

Aircraft

  • The "Lived in" pill on an aircraft page now opens the full last-state readout: how the last pilot left the airframe. Sync the state with the plugin.
  • Flights tracked through VATSIM now save the aircraft's state on landing. (Aircraft flown only on VATSIM had been keeping an older state. Thanks PilotDeviation for the bug report!)
  • New Government and Helicopter aircraft categories. Helicopters are classified automatically by type.
  • Oksibil (WAJO) was 11 nautical miles off its real position, so landings there matched no airport. Fixed. The Kodiak (K100) is now treated as a bush plane, so an off-airport stop keeps the flight open. We will continue to update the airport database with the most accurate data.

Dispatch and missions

  • Government aircraft get official travel and delegations from Dispatch instead of troop lifts.
  • Helicopters get charter and shuttle work with a briefing written for rotary flying.
  • "Flying a mission now" only lists pilots who declared that mission on their lease, not everyone passing through one of its airports.
  • Updates to the Mission Creator tool, adding more flexibility.

Account

  • Link your Discord account from Settings, under Integrations, so the Tailstrike bot can recognize you in the community server. It is a link only, not a way to sign in. Supporters who link their account will automatically receive the Supporter badge on Discord.
  • Fixed an issue where some pilots showed the Founding Supporter badge twice.

More coming soon. Happy flying!

Tailstrike is a persistent shared world for flight simulation. Every aircraft is one shared airframe with its own history. Land it, and it stays where you left it, with the fuel you left in it, waiting for the next pilot.
